Melton Schools: Offering Quality Adult Jewish Education Worldwide


Steven GartenRabbi Steven Garten was ordained at Hebrew union college Jewish institute of religion. He has served as the educational director of two large reform synagogues and two reform day schools. In 1995 he was invited to serve as rabbi of temple Israel in Ottawa Canada. He retired as rabbi in 2014 and now is the rabbi emeritus during his time in Ottawa he was blessed with unlimited adult Jewish teaching opportunities. His weekly Talmud shiur now is in its 17 year. His weekly Torah study class attracted learners from all denominations. While in Ottawa he has led 14 community and congregational journeys to Eretz Yisrael. He was introduced to the Melton program as a teacher and taught core courses and "graduate" courses for five years. He made his retirement project the reintroduction of "Melton" to the Ottawa Jewish community.
